A Honeywell Case Study
BiRite Foodservice Distributors, the largest independent broadline foodservice distributor in northern California with $240M+ in annual sales and a 235,000 sq. ft. facility, faced costly mis-picks and slow manual picking processes that threatened customer satisfaction and required emergency deliveries to fix errors. Seeking to improve accuracy, productivity and training, BiRite evaluated WMS options (with guidance from BFC Associates) and selected Vocollect Voice from Honeywell to address these issues.
Honeywell’s Vocollect Voice solution—integrated with BiRite’s WMS and deployed using Vocollect Talkman T2 mobile devices and SR/SRX headsets—was rolled out to 60 workers in a phased four-week implementation. The result: order accuracy improved by more than 90%, mis-picks dropped to virtually zero, training time fell from weeks to hours, and payback was achieved in under 12 months, restoring customer confidence and eliminating expensive emergency deliveries.
