VISA Global Logistics, Australia’s largest privately owned international freight forwarder, needed to replace an outdated, unreliable handheld platform (Dolphin 9500 running PocketPC 2003 over slow GPRS) that was causing delays in task allocation, job-status updates and proof-of-delivery. Honeywell (Intermec CN50 handheld) was chosen to provide a future-proof, durable terminal with 3G connectivity to address these issues.

Honeywell supplied the Intermec CN50 running VISA’s in-house .NET Compact Framework transport app, enabling real-time 3G communication, GPS time/location stamping and on-device signature capture with immediate POD email. The rollout was fast—20 units prepped in one day and all units deployed within three days—and delivered measurable benefits: significant reduction in time spent updating jobs, minimal hardware support/troubleshooting, improved driver KPI success rates and more accurate, transparent billing.
