Vaccine production benifts from state of the art control solution

LG Life Sciences (LGLS), a global vaccine developer and manufacturer, needed a validated, tightly integrated control solution for a new state-of-the-art vaccine production facility to handle complex batch processes, HVAC and utilities while minimizing startup cost, downtime and batch variability. LGLS selected Honeywell and its Experion LX distributed control system for its pharmaceutical-focused features and validation support.

Honeywell implemented Experion LX across the plant — covering E&I, control, HVAC and utilities with about 15,000 process I/O and 3,000 SCADA points, redundant servers and multiple operator stations — and used simulation to prove control strategies. The Honeywell solution delivered measurable gains: 20% faster system programming and site testing, 15% lower system manufacturing cost and roughly 10% increased revenue, plus improved batch throughput, reproducibility, recipe management and lower lifecycle costs.
