U.S. Air Force looks to Honeywell’s Vindicator® to protect flight line perimeters and ground-based defense security operations

The United States Air Force needed a reliable perimeter security solution to protect flight lines and ground-based defense operations while minimizing the high number of false alarms typical of video motion detection. Honeywell was engaged to address this challenge using its Vindicator® V5 Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Vindicator Command and Control (VCC) to combine existing ground-based radar sensors with video detection and support rule-based intruder characterization.

Honeywell integrated the Air Force’s radar via an XML interface into Vindicator V5, correlated geospatial radar data with video motion detection using rule-based logic, and forwarded validated alarms to VCC for audible annunciation and map-based operator display. The implementation delivered a very high probability of detection with a very low false-alarm rate, and generated interest from other Department of Defense entities to deploy Vindicator in additional mission-critical locations.
