University of District of Columbia Uses Honeywell Technology to Streamline Operations

The University of the District of Columbia, the only urban land‑grant institution in the U.S. with about 6,000 students across four locations, needed to ensure 24/7 physical and electronic security as it expanded with satellite campuses. To replace separate, non‑communicating systems and improve personal safety for a diverse student body, the university turned to Honeywell, deploying its Pro‑Watch® security management system and MAXPRO® VMS video management system.

Honeywell integrated Pro‑Watch with MAXPRO VMS to unify access control, analog and IP cameras, and dispatch operations into a single graphical interface, enabling main‑campus monitoring of satellite cameras and support for third‑party devices. The integrated Honeywell solution increased campus coverage, centralized management, and proved easy for operators to use—many staff configured functionality before formal training—while providing scalable capabilities (unlimited readers/users and planned cardholder database integration) to streamline operations across the university.
