A Honeywell Case Study
Total Port Arthur Refinery, a 169,000 barrels-per-day facility within Total S.A., faced rising industrial cyber threats—USB-borne malware, outdated antivirus and firmware, undocumented remote access paths, and limited network segmentation—across a process control network of about 120 servers and workstations. To address these vulnerabilities, Total Port Arthur Refinery partnered with Honeywell and adopted Honeywell’s Managed Industrial Cyber Security Services, including Honeywell Secure Connection, automated patching and anti‑malware, continuous monitoring, and intelligence reporting.
Honeywell provided 24/7 managed security engineering, an authenticated encrypted VPN for secure remote access, automated patch/anti‑malware management, continuous monitoring and alerting, and a dedicated site support specialist. The Honeywell solution reduced breach risk and gave Total Port Arthur Refinery greater visibility and control of its PCN, improved operating system security, stability and reliability, and delivered continual coverage (24/7), helping to reduce downtime and support safer, more reliable production operations.
