Toronto's 25 York Street Setting New Standards for Building Integration Toronto’s Menkes 25 York Street tower pushes the envelope of intelligent building design

Menkes, a leading Ontario real estate developer, faced the challenge of delivering a downtown Toronto office tower that met aggressive LEED goals, offered tenant-level control and superior occupant comfort, and did not blow the project budget. To achieve an intelligent, tightly integrated building, Menkes engaged Honeywell and deployed Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) along with Honeywell ComfortPoint, Temaline smartcard readers and Honeywell Security Manager to bring advanced automation, security and energy management into the building design.

Honeywell implemented an enterprise-wide, fiber-optic Ethernet solution that integrated HVAC, lighting, energy metering, access control, video surveillance, elevators, parking and life-safety across more than 50 integration points and enabled web-based tenant access and automated energy strategies. The result: 25 York Street achieved LEED Gold, uses 47% less energy than a comparable tower, reduced raw material use by 15%, reached full occupancy, won NAIOP’s Office Development of the Year and delivered measurable improvements in comfort, security and operational efficiency—demonstrating Honeywell’s clear impact.
