Case Study: PGA achieves $3M+ in savings with Intermec by Honeywell mobile scoring solution

A Honeywell Case Study

Preview of the PGA Case Study

The PGA is Teed Up to Save $3 Million, Thanks to a Mobile Solution from Intermec by Honeywell

The PGA, a membership organization of more than 27,000 golf professionals that runs tournaments watched by nearly 40 million viewers, faced high costs and operational headaches from third‑party scoring systems that ran $120,000–$140,000 per tournament. To improve scoring, data capture and spectator experience they worked with Scan Read Technologies to deploy Intermec by Honeywell CN50 and CK71 rugged mobile computers (from Honeywell), plus device management software for on‑course data collection and ticket scanning.

Honeywell’s Intermec devices were purchased and pre‑configured for volunteers to use as walking scorers and gate scanners, providing real‑time scoring to media and reducing per‑event setup from a full day to about 1–2 hours. The rugged CN50 and CK71 delivered longer battery life, reliable performance in harsh weather, simplified volunteer training, and helped the PGA realize expected savings in excess of $3 million through 2016.
