Case Study: HAVI Logistics achieves reliable end-to-end frozen-food tracking in extreme temperatures with Honeywell

A Honeywell Case Study

Preview of the HAVI Logistics Case Study

The Detail is in the Label: Even Extreme Cold Can’t Stop Efficient, End-to-End Tracking and Tracing of Frozen Foods

HAVI Logistics, a global leader in foodservice distribution, needed a single labeling and printing solution that would survive extreme temperature swings across dry, cold and frozen storage (41 to -9°F) while remaining removable from returnable containers. Existing labels either detached below zero or left residue, threatening traceability and hygiene for millions of deliveries. To meet that challenge HAVI evaluated solutions and selected Intermec by Honeywell printers and support services.

Honeywell’s solution deployed 127 Intermec by Honeywell PX6i thermal-transfer printers across 29 European distribution centers (printers installed in heated cabinets in frozen zones and connected via WPA2 wireless), backed by Honeywell’s printhead replacement program. The setup enabled on-the-spot barcode printing regardless of temperature, reduced extra walking and exposure of handhelds, and strengthened end-to-end traceability for HAVI’s multi‑million label volumes (HAVI prints ~5 million A5 labels per year; a three‑year label contract covers 16.5 million labels), delivering measurable operational reliability and compliance.
