Sony of Canada - Customer Case Study

Sony of Canada, Ltd., a subsidiary of Sony Corporation that processes roughly 18,000 orders per month, faced rising e‑commerce volumes, more and smaller orders, and strong seasonality that exposed the limits of its paper and RF picking processes—too many steps, frequent errors and long training times. At the recommendation of WMS partner RedPrairie, Sony of Canada deployed Honeywell Vocollect voice (VoiceDirect Enterprise Connector with Vocollect headsets and T5 mobile devices) to streamline picking and staging.

Honeywell’s Vocollect voice solution was integrated with Sony’s WMS to enable hands‑free, eyes‑free cluster and bulk picking workflows; the implementation delivered a 30% improvement in throughput and a 15% improvement in accuracy, cut technical training to about one hour and operational training to about one week (versus 2–3 months with RF), reduced temporary labor by five workers, shortened physical inventory to half a day, and improved safety and seasonality responsiveness.
