Servo-Based Tank Level Gauging System Improves Inventory Control at Terminal Maritimo

Flota Petrolera Ecuatoriana needed a state‑of‑the‑art inventory control and tank gauging solution at its Monteverde maritime LPG terminal to achieve highly accurate level measurement, reliable gain/loss calculations, density‑corrected volumes and uninterrupted data availability for safety and regulatory compliance. After consulting with Honeywell, the customer chose the Honeywell Enraf servo‑based tank gauging system as a better fit than the originally specified radar technology.

Honeywell installed its Enraf servo gauges (including 854 ATG gauges, VITO temperature sensors, CIU communication units and ENTIS PRO inventory software), delivering 0.4 mm accuracy across the full range, density profiling, and up to 150 m measurement capability. The Honeywell solution reduced maintenance and man‑hours, improved inventory control and reliability, lowered operational costs, and provided local support during startup—resulting in smoother operations and the expected performance improvements reported by Flopec.
