Qatar Petroleum NGL Plant Completes Successful Experion On-Process Migration

Qatar Petroleum (QP), operator of continuous NGL storage and ship-loading operations, needed to upgrade an aging Honeywell DCS running Experion R211 on unsupported Windows platforms without any plant shutdown. QP engaged Honeywell to carry out an Experion PKS On-Process Migration and to migrate the legacy Control Net Interface (CNI) to Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE) while the plant remained fully operational.

Honeywell delivered hardware and software upgrades to Experion R430, developed and tested a CNI-to-FTE on-process migration tool, and completed factory and site acceptance testing before performing the live migration. The project was finished on time with zero production interruptions, earned QP recognition for technical excellence, and resulted in the new CNI-to-FTE tool being added to Honeywell’s standard Experion migration toolkit for future projects.
