A Honeywell Case Study
Novartis, with a New Jersey campus of more than 30 buildings across 180 acres, faced major communication challenges during Hurricane Sandy as widespread power outages and intermittent cell service threatened employee safety and business continuity. To ensure people were informed and productive, Novartis used Honeywell’s Instant Alert service to deliver critical notifications about shelters, charging stations, fuel, and work location options.
Honeywell implemented its cloud-based Instant Alert to send targeted messages by business unit and building, giving employees options to work from home or use on‑campus “hotel” spaces and allowing Novartis staff to receive alerts on multiple devices. The system enabled remote access during evacuations, achieved over 90% employee participation, and delivered 122,000 individual messages during the storm—helping Novartis maintain productivity and keep employees safe.
