A Honeywell Case Study
Noble Corporation, a rapidly expanding wholesale supplier of plumbing, HVAC and related products with more than 50 branches and 200 delivery trucks, faced an inefficient paper-based proof-of-delivery (POD) process and time-consuming manual shipping and receiving that threatened customer service and their $25 late/missing delivery promise. To modernize operations they engaged Honeywell (Intermec) and Nuway Software, selecting the Intermec by Honeywell CN50 handheld mobile computer with a custom POD application.
Honeywell’s Intermec CN50, paired with Nuway Software’s driver and counter applications, enabled barcode scanning, real-time signature capture and immediate transmission of delivery data to Noble’s servers and customer-service tools. The solution increased POD success from 80% to nearly 95%, reclaimed the equivalent of about 15 full-time staff by eliminating daily manual tasks (e.g., 8 hrs/day scanning, 8 hrs/day retrieval, per-branch shipping time plus 4 hrs/day of inquiries), and streamlined invoicing and customer support while providing GPS/routing expansion options.
