Case Study: Shell achieves enhanced safety, security and situational awareness with Honeywell's integrated Digital Video Manager and XLS3000 solution

Shell’s Early Production Facility in Sierras Blancas, Argentina — a sprawling site processing up to 10,000 barrels per day — needed CCTV, access control, intrusion detection and operational monitoring across the perimeter, entrances and key process areas. Shell engaged Honeywell, which was already supplying the control and automation system, to deliver an integrated security and safety solution using Honeywell’s Digital Video Manager (DVM) and the XLS3000 fire and gas control system.

Honeywell deployed DVM with more than 30 IP and analogue cameras tightly integrated with the Experion PKS distributed control and Safety Manager, and installed XLS3000 for UL‑Listed, NFPA‑72 compliant fire and gas protection. The unified platform gives operators HMI‑accessible video control, smart recording and analytics that eliminate manual footage searches, automatic alarm‑driven video displays, and centralized access management — significantly improving situational awareness, security and safety across the facility.
