Case Study: Naval Sea Systems achieves $500K+ first‑year savings and UID-compliant asset visibility with Honeywell

A Honeywell Case Study

Naval Sea Systems - Customer Case Study

Naval Sea Systems’ GPETE group was struggling with a slow, error-prone inventory process for hundreds of thousands of test instruments—handwritten serial numbers, manual data entry and inconsistent IDs—undermining calibration, readiness and compliance with the DoD unique identification (UID) mandate. To modernize labeling and ensure UID compliance they engaged Honeywell to standardize identification and tracking across the fleet.

Honeywell implemented handheld barcode scanners, mobile printers and mobile printing software to barcode legacy equipment, scan items during calibration and onboard assessments, and update the central database in real time. The Honeywell solution delivered immediate asset visibility and scheduling for maintenance, reduced data-entry errors and duplicate purchases, and is expected to save more than $500K in the first year (including $341,250 from reduced data errors and $190,000 in annual labor savings), while improving overall readiness.
