Mission Foods Boosts Asset Control and Increases Inventory Traceability With an Automated Rfid Solution From Honeywell

Mission Foods, a leading tortilla and snack producer operating three Texas warehouses that move nearly 20,000 returnable plastic containers (RPCs) daily, faced severe asset-tracking failures with a paper-based process that left almost all RPCs unrecovered and forced annual replacement spending of about $3.5 million. To address this, Mission Foods engaged Honeywell for an automated RFID asset-control solution.

Honeywell deployed an RFID system using IF61 readers, antennas, labels and PM4i printers to tag RPCs at pick/pack and capture them through outbound and inbound portals, automating returns reconciliation. The Honeywell solution cut the container replacement rate from nearly 100% to about 4%, produced $700,000 in packaging cost savings, increased container turns to an average of 25, and enabled plans to expand the Honeywell RFID rollout and add Advanced RFID Extensions for even greater accuracy.
