Preview of the Major Airline Company Case Study

Major Airline Leverages Managed Mobility Services to Support Mission-Critical Mobile Devices

Major Airline Company, which serves more than 100 cities across North America and was the first airline approved by the FAA to deploy an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), faced the challenge of rolling out and supporting mission‑critical mobile devices to improve operational efficiency and customer service. The airline selected Honeywell and its Managed Mobility Services (MMS) to handle rapid provisioning, multi‑OS expertise, and ongoing support for Apple iOS tablets and smartphones in both flight and ground operations.

Honeywell implemented end‑to‑end MMS — including device provisioning, staging, 24x7x365 helpdesk and depot services, spare‑pool management and overnight replacements — and managed major deployments (2,000 iPads as EFB replacements and 3,500 iPhone 6 Plus devices enabled with AirWatch MDM). The result: centralized accountability and faster rollouts (3,500 iPhones deployed in just three weeks), continuous iOS/MDM best practices without building internal competency, and reliable around‑the‑clock support from Honeywell.
