Case Study: Internap achieves rapid HQ relocation and streamlined security operations with Honeywell managed access control

Internap transforms security and realizes how security can serve as a business tool that makes operations easier

Internap, a global IT services provider, needed to relocate 200 employees to a new headquarters in just four months while upgrading facility infrastructure and access control. With an Atlanta IT team of four, Internap worked with integrator Remote Protection Systems, which recommended a Honeywell managed access control solution—using Honeywell products such as WIN-PAK CS, NetAXS, OmniProx readers and Genesis cabling—to reduce onsite server requirements and simplify credentialing and access management.

Remote Protection Systems implemented Honeywell’s hosted access control system, installing readers and provisioning credentials while hosting the preconfigured server offsite. The deployment covered about 20 doors, reproduced 200 access cards, and ran 150,000 feet of Honeywell Genesis cable to 1,000 connection points; the managed access control was installed and configured in three weeks and the entire project completed on time in three months. By using Honeywell’s managed solution, Internap saved its IT staff weeks of work, sped the move, and shifted ongoing access management to the integrator.
