A Honeywell Case Study
Academy of Art University, a San Francisco–based art and design school of about 18,000 students, faced the challenge of securing dozens of scattered campus buildings and managing thousands of people coming and going daily while preventing theft and enabling rapid lockdowns. To address this, the university selected Honeywell solutions — including Pro‑Watch® Corporate Edition, LobbyWorks® visitor management and VISTA® intrusion control panels — to provide centralized access control and badge management across its urban campus.
Honeywell’s Pro‑Watch system was installed by integrator Microbiz Security Co., connecting 200+ proximity readers, VISTA intrusion panels and LobbyWorks visitor badges to a single 24/7 command center over an internal fiber network. The solution enabled instant badge issuance (seconds), one‑click disabling of cards, semester-based card controls, temporary visitor badges, and automated lockdowns, immediately reducing crime and improving campus safety — while the fiber network cut phone line fees by thousands of dollars per month.
