Integrated Fire & Gas upgrade Improves Safety at Power Plant

EUAS, operator of the Ambarli combined-cycle power plant near Istanbul, faced an obsolete fire detection and alarm system that produced repeated false alarms, left many process and non-process areas unprotected, and relied heavily on manual interventions. To meet Turkish and international safety codes (EN54, NFPA) and carry out work without shutting down production, EUAS awarded Honeywell an integrated Fire & Gas upgrade including Safety Manager, Universal Safety I/O, XLS80 panels, FAAST aspiration detectors and Experion security integration.

Honeywell deployed local engineering under its global implementation model to install a fully integrated fire, gas and security solution in just 10 months without interrupting operations. The Honeywell system now provides continuous, plant‑wide monitoring and automated responses, eliminated false alarms, cut site cabling and installation effort via Universal Safety I/O, reduced operator dependence and response times, lowered ongoing maintenance costs, and improved overall safety and plant profitability.
