Indira Gandhi International Airport - Customer Case Study

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), New Delhi, required a fast-tracked, world-class upgrade for Terminal 3 and airside operations to meet the 2010 Commonwealth Games and long-term expansion goals. The airport needed a master Building Management System on open protocols (OPC/BACnet) and a CAT IIIB-compliant Airfield Ground Lighting portfolio that could integrate with SCADA, MET, VDGS and billing systems; Honeywell was engaged to deliver the integrated solutions (Honeywell HBS/Enterprise Buildings Integrator and AGL systems).

Honeywell implemented its Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) with integrated SCADA, DDC controllers, 14 BMS servers/workstations, BACnet/OPC integration and a custom AGL Control & Monitoring System, plus redundant, high-availability architecture. The Honeywell solution enabled automated flight‑parking billing (notably the first global integration of GPU/PCA with IT‑BMS), improved fault identification and remote diagnosis, reduced manpower and energy use (contributing to Green Building certification), and sustained airside reliability above 99.5% runway serviceability.
