Huawei Selects Honeywell for Central Asia Gas Pipeline Project

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., acting as the EPC for the Uzbekistan–China (Line C) segment of the Central Asia Gas Pipeline, needed an automation partner that could meet a tight schedule and the end user’s operational requirements. Honeywell was selected to provide a complete automation/SCADA solution, centered on its Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS) and including Station Control System (SCS with PLC), RTUs, Emergency Shutdown (ESD), Fire & Gas (FGS), Uniformance® PHD historical database, simulation, leakage detection and a variable metering skid.

Honeywell implemented the unified Experion PKS platform with distributed system architecture and PHD historian, plus field RTUs and metering hardware, and local support from its Uzbekistan office. The DSA feature shortened project delivery by about one month, PHD improved data security and process performance, and the unified HMI simplified operations and maintenance. Honeywell’s solution supported Line C entering service in May 2014 and achieving its target capacity (20 x 10^8 Nm3/a) by the end of 2015.
