How Honeywell Helped Sichuan Airlines Streamline Their Operations

Sichuan Airlines, a Chinese air transportation company operating an A330 and A350 fleet, needed a way to streamline flight operations, reduce pilot workload, and improve the accuracy and timeliness of wind and temperature data used in flight planning. Honeywell addressed this challenge with its FMS Wind service, which was deployed at the airline’s data center to automate and optimize data uploads.

With Honeywell’s FMS Wind, Sichuan Airlines enabled pilots and operators to avoid manual input of flight plans and weather data, improving operational efficiency and lowering latency. During testing, 585 flights using the system achieved 117 tons of fuel savings and 368.6 tons of carbon emissions reduction, while Honeywell reported total savings of about $295 per flight, along with reduced fuel consumption and flight time.
