Honeywell’s Partnership with Atlantic Enables Delivery of World Class LNG OTS

Atlantic, one of the world's largest LNG producers operating a four‑train liquefaction facility at Point Fortin, Trinidad, faced a shortage of experienced LNG operators and needed to scale training to improve process understanding and DCS competence. Atlantic invited vendors to tender and selected Honeywell to deliver a state‑of‑the‑art Operator Training Simulator (OTS) to accelerate new operator development and strengthen skills for complex start‑up, shutdown and upset scenarios.

Honeywell implemented a brownfield OTS (project start August 2013, delivery February 2015) built on UniSim® Design Dynamic Simulation, a Control and ESD Simulation Engine and the UniSim® Operations Instructor Workstation to provide repeatable, risk‑free exercises for normal and disturbance conditions. The Honeywell solution was delivered on schedule and within budget, operators report increased confidence and faster competency development, and Atlantic expects measurable benefits including reduced start‑up times, improved diagnostic skills, greater training efficiency, fewer incidents and improved emergency response.
