Honeywell’s OTS Helps Saratov Oil Refinery Ensure Efficient and Reliable Processes

Saratov Oil Refinery, a major Russian refinery processing 6.75 million tons of oil per year, faced significant training and operational challenges after a large-scale upgrade and integration into Rosneft that introduced new technologies and process changes. To overhaul operator training and improve control, diagnostics and engineering assessment capabilities, Saratov Oil Refinery engaged Honeywell and its Operator Training and Simulation (OTS) solution.

Honeywell implemented a modern OTS platform—combining a process simulation engine, control and ESD simulation and an instructor workstation—and deployed simulators for units including the L-35-11/300 reformer, isomerization and PSA units. The Honeywell solution delivered risk-free, repeatable training that reduced start-up times, shortened training duration, improved operator diagnostic and emergency response skills, reduced incidents, and helped Honeywell become one of the refinery’s main technology suppliers.
