Honeywell RDR-7000 Weather Radar a 'No Brainer' for Global XRS Pilot

ACI Jet, a private aviation leader that manages a Bombardier Global XRS, faced the challenge of obtaining accurate, real‑time weather information for long domestic and international flights. Conventional weather radars often struggled with ground clutter and gave insufficient advance warning of storms, increasing pilot workload and risking passenger safety—so ACI Jet and pilot Stephen Hartley turned to Honeywell’s IntuVue RDR-7000 weather radar for a better solution.

Honeywell installed the IntuVue RDR-7000 on the Global XRS for flight testing (in partnership with AeroTEC) and secured an FAA TSO while pursuing STCs for multiple aircraft. The RDR-7000’s 3‑D volumetric scans provide a full vertical view from the ground to 60,000 ft and out to 320 nm, reliably detecting thunderstorms, lightning, hail and turbulence at long range, reducing pilot workload and improving situational awareness—results Honeywell and ACI Jet reported as a clear safety and comfort improvement.
