Honeywell Integrated Control, Safety, and Fire & Gas Solution at CNOOC, Shenzhen

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) needed a highly reliable, tightly integrated control and safety solution for its Shenzhen LNG receiving station to ensure secure operation of four large LNG tanks and associated gasification facilities. CNOOC sought a single supplier to deliver a distributed control system that would seamlessly integrate process control with Fire & Gas (FGS) and Emergency Shutdown (ESD) functions. Honeywell was selected to provide this integrated automation package, including the Experion® PKS Distributed Control System, Safety Manager ESD and Fire & Gas systems, and combustible/toxic gas and flame detectors.

Honeywell implemented a turnkey solution that connected Experion PKS, Safety Manager controllers and field detectors over its FTE industrial control network, eliminating cross-vendor communication mapping and simplifying commissioning. The single-supplier approach delivered on-time system deployment (automation work from 2014 went into service after SAT in 2016), reduced project costs and integration workload, shortened the project cycle, and lowered implementation risk. As a result, operators gain unified visibility from one workstation, faster abnormal-event response, and ongoing lifecycle support from Honeywell.
