Honeywell Implements Advanced Access Control for Codelco Andina

Codelco’s Andina Division, a high‑altitude copper mine in Chile, faced insecure, paper‑based access procedures that left daily flows of about 3,000 people and 700 vehicles vulnerable to falsification. To meet regulatory and internal safety requirements—and to enable mobile verification at vehicle checkpoints—Codelco selected the Honeywell EBI‑Temaline access control solution (with Honeywell DVM for CCTV and monitoring).

Honeywell installed EBI‑Temaline and DVM plus vehicle barriers, long‑range tags, LPR, traffic lights, bus readers/controllers and handheld mobile readers with a custom app that work online/offline and sync in real time. The Honeywell system migrated Andina from manual controls to a high‑level technological solution that records all site entrants, speeds worker throughput, reduces guard personnel, and ensures compliance; Codelco subsequently upgraded to EBI R430 and is rolling the Honeywell solution out to seven more sites over the next decade.
