Honeywell APC Helps World’s Largest Producer of Acrylic Fiber Exceed $2M in Annual Benefit

Aksa, the world’s largest acrylic fiber producer, needed to increase its industrial power plant efficiency and stabilize operations to reduce fuel and operating costs while meeting quality and emissions targets. Aksa engaged Honeywell to apply Advanced Process Control (APC) and Advanced Energy Solutions (AES), building on prior work with Honeywell’s APC and using Honeywell’s Profit Suite™ software.

Honeywell implemented APC via Profit Suite™ on an APC server and deployed AES modules including Advanced Combustion Control, Advanced Temperature Control, SCR NOx reduction, Master Pressure Control, steam‑network optimization and Target Optimizer to optimize boilers, turbines and steam allocation. The work improved combustion and cycle efficiency, reduced fuel and ammonia consumption, stabilized emissions and transient response, and delivered more than $2M in annual benefits—well above the $640K/year performance guarantee—also enabling incentives for Aksa employees.
