GDF SUEZ E&P in the Netherlands Optimizes Pipeline Processes using UniSim Design Suite

GDF SUEZ E&P in the Netherlands, operator of the 270 km NOGAT subsea pipeline network, needed reliable gas property and inventory data to support gas trading, nominations and allocation but lacked accurate online measurements. To fill that gap they adopted Honeywell’s UniSim Design Suite to provide the process simulation capability required by their hydrocarbon accounting system (Energy Components).

Honeywell implemented steady‑state UniSim Design models covering the offshore platforms and Den Helder treatment plant, integrated them with live plant data and linked six simulation models to Energy Components to run four automated scenarios (hourly, daily and monthly). The Honeywell solution enabled automatic model updates and hands‑off execution, reduced the time and manual effort to generate inputs, improved consistency and nomination/dispatch cycles, lowered the risk of human error, and is now used by GDF SUEZ E&P for production accounting and compressor studies.
