Fire Detection & Alarm Systems for ZADCO’s Zirku Island Facility

ZADCO’s Zirku Island facility — the company’s main offshore operations center in Abu Dhabi hosting over 1,000 personnel and more than 100 AREA‑B buildings — needed a modern fire detection and alarm system to improve personnel safety, protect assets and meet UAE, NFPA and UL regulations while the plant remained online. ZADCO selected Honeywell to provide the full scope solution and integrate the new fire system with its existing Experion® PKS Distributed Control System and Safety Manager Emergency Shutdown system.

Honeywell deployed XLS3000 and 140 fire alarm control panels, analogue/addressable detectors, horns/strobes, a ~25 km fiber‑optic network, and Experion Enterprise Building Integrator for centralized monitoring and HMI integration with DCS/ESD. The Honeywell solution delivered continuous, site‑wide monitoring for 100+ buildings, eliminated false alarms, reduced response times and engineering/commissioning/testing effort, lowered insurance premiums, was implemented without operational interruption, and is being expanded and supported by Honeywell.
