F&G System Upgrade Improves Safety at Petrochemical Plant

Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore (Private) Limited faced an aging, unreliable 20‑year‑old fire and gas system with hard‑to‑find spare parts and limited support. PCS engaged Honeywell to upgrade only the main F&G controller and I/O while leaving existing field devices in place, and selected Honeywell’s XLS 3000 Fire and Gas system and Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) R410 SCADA for the modernization.

Honeywell installed, tested and commissioned the XLS3000 and EBI R410, connecting panels via fiber and matching wiring to avoid operational disruption; the XLS3000 supports up to 3,180 addressable devices and includes SMART maintenance reporting to help meet NFPA testing requirements. The Honeywell solution delivered renewed plant safety confidence, reduced downtime and spare‑parts/maintenance costs, stronger local support, and an integrated, user‑friendly HMI for faster incident awareness and response.
