Experion® Aro Ensures business Continuity at anglo American copper Smelting plant

Anglo American Sur, S.A.’s Fundición Chagres copper smelting plant faced the COVID-19–driven need to reduce control room staffing while maintaining safe, continuous operations if on-site operators became unavailable. To address the risk of shutdowns and ensure business continuity, Anglo American turned to Honeywell and its Experion ARO (Augmented Remote Operations) solution to enable secure remote operation and support.

Honeywell deployed Experion ARO to replicate the control room Orion Console HMI off-site, quickly standing up three remote operating locations within days and adding remote clients for engineers. The solution allowed the plant to be successfully operated from remote sites during testing, streamlined implementation and certification, reduced emergency response time by enabling experts to log in from anywhere, and mitigated health and safety risks for Anglo American’s staff.
