Experimental Aircraft Association - Customer Case Study

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) race pilot Joe Coraggio needed a modern, lightweight integrated flight deck to compete safely and faster in the Reno Air Races. He engaged Honeywell’s BendixKing team to upgrade his Lancair Legacy with the BendixKing Integrated Flight Deck (including the xVue Touch, AeroNav GPS, xCruze autopilot, AeroPoint 200, KT‑74 transponder, KMA 30 audio panel and AeroFlight backup attitude indicator) to improve situational awareness and reduce cockpit workload.

Honeywell’s BendixKing solution replaced the old panel and delivered a 40‑pound weight savings, a 10.1" 4K xVue Touch display with onboard ADS‑B weather/traffic, and built‑in Wi‑Fi for rapid data upload and software updates. Those improvements produced better handling, quicker decision-making on course, and measurable speed gains along the race route—giving Joe Coraggio the competitive edge he sought.
