EDRC Trains Students Using Honeywell’s Simulation Solution

Seoul National University’s Engineering Development Research Center (EDRC) faced the industry challenge of preparing a new generation of process engineers and operators as experienced staff approach retirement and skill shortages grow. To close that gap, EDRC selected Honeywell’s simulation technologies—notably the UniSim Competency Suite/UniSim operator training simulation—and an Experion Orion‑based demo system to deliver industry‑grade training.

Honeywell implemented a realistic Naphtha Hydro‑treating (NHT) plant simulation with Experion Orion operator consoles, enabling hands‑on exercises and a curriculum that condenses years of operational experience into focused training. The Honeywell solution accelerated skills acquisition and knowledge transfer, improved understanding of plant and control theory, and increased trainee confidence and accuracy in both normal and abnormal operations, helping prepare personnel faster for real‑world roles.
