A Honeywell Case Study
DuPont’s Chambers Works chemical plant faced an aging control system — originally pneumatic and later migrated to SLCs — with a hardwired Safety Instrumented System that lacked a designed bypass and forced unsafe valve workarounds. Concerned about safety and the need for a modern Human‑Machine Interface, DuPont engaged Honeywell to evaluate and replace the outdated controls using the Experion Process Knowledge System (C300 Controller, Experion Station HMI and Safety Manager SIS).
Honeywell implemented Experion PKS and supported the migration with tools such as Bulk Build and the HMIWeb Solution Pack, resolving installation issues and keeping the project on schedule. Using Bulk Build DuPont configured 350 control modules, 3,955 function blocks, 157 C300 I/Os and 681 connections from a single Excel file, reducing configuration cost, eliminating the need for an integrator, and improving consistency and supportability; HMIWeb SP standardized displays and training across sites, lowering cost and easing adoption.
