A Honeywell Case Study
California Science Center needed to protect the Space Shuttle Endeavour housed in a temporary pavilion and to prepare a fire and life-safety system that could scale to a planned 200,000 sq ft expansion and approximately 2.4 million annual visitors. Honeywell’s NOTIFIER system—centered on the NFS2-3030 fire alarm control panel and Digital Voice Command (DVC)—was selected to provide a robust, uniform platform across the museum complex.
Honeywell, working through authorized NOTIFIER distributor Cosco Fire Protection, expanded the existing NFS2-3030, upgraded the graphic annunciator, and added sensors, strobes and zoned DVC speaker strobes to the pavilion. The solution delivered immediate coverage for the shuttle, enabled targeted voice evacuation messages (up to 8 unique simultaneous messages), improved situational awareness via visual annunciators, reduced material and labor costs by leveraging the existing system, and left the California Science Center with a scalable Honeywell NOTIFIER architecture that supports thousands of devices and future expansion.
