A Honeywell Case Study
Plant Access is a specialised logistics provider for the green life industry that transports nursery plants from more than 67 supplier sites to Bunnings stores across Victoria and South Australia. Faced with thousands of reusable steel stillages spread across hundreds of locations and a legacy paper-based ordering system that left them blind to asset location and order status, Plant Access piloted an automated tracking solution using the Honeywell Scanning & Mobility RFID tracking system to gain real-time visibility.
Honeywell deployed IT75 metal-mount UHF tags, CN70 handheld terminals and IF61/IF2 industrial readers (with a cloud network supported by Unique Micro Design) to capture asset reads at supplier sites, the Plant Access cross dock and on delivery. The RFID portals read up to 40 tags per second on trucks carrying up to 100 stillages and achieved a 100% read rate and 100% automatic identification accuracy, delivering real-time order status, eliminating manual data entry errors, reducing lost stillages, improving routing and scheduling, and boosting customer service for Bunnings.
