A Honeywell Case Study
Bing Lee, one of Australia’s largest family‑owned electrical retailers with a central distribution center serving 39 stores, faced logistical challenges from manual paper run sheets, lost or misplaced inventory, and poor track‑and‑trace for direct‑to‑home and inter‑store transfers. To modernize operations they engaged a wireless barcode solution using Intermec by Honeywell CK3 and CN50 mobile computers alongside a new warehouse management system and mobile software integrations.
Honeywell’s Intermec devices were deployed as part of a wireless mobile delivery system (integrated with Paperless Warehousing and Interdev Xmotion) so drivers could scan items, capture digital proof of delivery, update the DC in real time, and record exceptions with supervisor authorization. The solution from Honeywell delivered measurable improvements: dramatically reduced stock losses, digitized PODs, faster rescheduling of failed deliveries, lower labor costs for paperwork, better customer service through real‑time visibility, and recognition with an SCLAA NSW Supply Chain Management Award.
