A Honeywell Case Study
Cristalia Premium Water, a Puerto Rico-based bottler supplying the Caribbean tourist market, faced rising labor costs and inefficiencies from manually palletizing multiple bottle lines, with the one-gallon-jug line the most labor-intensive and highest-volume. To solve this within a cramped 20,000 sq. ft. plant, Cristalia engaged Honeywell Intelligrated (Honeywell) to evaluate an automated palletizing solution and selected the compact Alvey GS140 palletizer.
Honeywell’s Alvey GS140 was installed to automate the one-gallon-jug line, using a small footprint that eliminated the need for a long infeed conveyor and allowed full facility access; it palletizes up to 30 cartons per minute, forms 16-case layers, and includes a 10-pallet dispenser. The Honeywell solution cut labor costs by 25%, increased throughput by 20% (about 1,000 extra cases per shift), delivered a six-month ROI on an investment under $100,000, saved roughly $14,000 in shipping by fitting in a 40-foot container, and achieved targeted uptime of about 97%.
