Gleason Research Associates, a veteran-owned small business that provides engineering, modeling and inventory-management services to the DoD, faced a slow, error-prone paper-based process for tracking government property and hand receipts. To automate and improve accuracy, GRA paired its Auto Scan Tracking System (ASTS®) software with Honeywell rugged mobile computers (CN3 and CN70).

Honeywell supplied the rugged mobile scanners that integrated with ASTS®, allowing barcode or serial-number capture and rapid uploads for reconciliation. The Honeywell-enabled solution cut annual physical inventory time from six months to about seven days, reduced duplicate purchases, lost/stolen items and excessive warranty/maintenance costs, and helped customers consistently pass IG audits.
