Case Study: Air Methods achieves FAA-compliant FDM and improved patient safety with Honeywell's Sky Connect Tracker III

A Honeywell Case Study

Preview of the Air Methods Case Study

Air Methods Uses Tracker III for Flight Data Management (FDM) and Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) Programs

Air Methods, the world’s largest air medical services provider with a 500‑aircraft fleet, needed to expand Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) capabilities to meet new FAA requirements and improve in‑flight monitoring, maintenance response and patient care communications. They partnered with Honeywell (with distributor Masco) to deploy the Sky Connect Tracker III system to capture aircraft performance, flight and engine data and support mobile event tracking and crew communications.

Honeywell’s Sky Connect Tracker III was installed across the fleet to tap into aircraft data buses, record parameters, generate configurable alerts and relay information via the Iridium network to operations centers and mobile apps. The Honeywell solution enabled Air Methods to build an FAA‑approved FOQA program using Tracker III data, exceed FAA FDM requirements, speed event responses via a mobile app, improve maintenance troubleshooting and provide continuous crew‑to‑ground medical and operational communications — materially increasing safety and operational efficiency.
