Specialty retailer upgrades distribution center to accommodate future growth

Kirkland’s, a leading U.S. specialty home‑decor retailer with more than 300 stores, was experiencing roughly 30% annual growth and needed its distribution center redesigned to support opening 3–5 new stores per week, more frequent deliveries, and a highly diverse, often fragile product mix. The existing facility couldn’t meet required throughput or cycle times without significantly more labor or additional shifts.

Intelligrated, with supply‑chain partner Sedlak, delivered an automated sortation and conveyor redesign—four pick induction lines feeding IntelliQ accumulation and IntelliSort shoe sorters, a value‑added services line, 17 ship lanes and 22 LTL lanes—installed on time and on budget with minimal disruption. The solution increased outbound capacity, enabled real‑time allocations at receipt, and reduced receipt‑to‑shipment cycle time by 75%, positioning Kirkland’s for continued growth.
