Regional Retail Chain Upgrades Its Order Fulfillment Software and Doesn’t Miss a Beat During The Changeover

Fred’s, a regional retail chain of more than 700 stores and 300 pharmacies, needed to replace an aging HP D270 server at its 10-year-old Memphis distribution center. Rather than perform a like‑for‑like swap, management chose to upgrade its long‑standing Real Time Solutions (RTS) order‑fulfillment software to improve productivity, accuracy and reporting while avoiding disruption to daily operations.

Intelligrated designed, tested and installed a new HP server and RTS v16 (including suspend pick, dynamic zoning, customizable “My View” screens and enhanced reporting) over a single weekend; the system was live by Monday with no missed shipments. The upgrade delivered an easier interface that required little retraining, improved picking efficiency and order accuracy, added business‑intelligence capabilities, and a hardware platform scalable for the company’s growth.
