A Honeywell Forge Case Study
Lundin Norway operates the Edvard Grieg oil and gas platform in the North Sea and needed precise, real-time energy accounting and CO2 emissions measurement to support carbon-reduction goals and regulatory compliance while optimizing remote operations. To address this challenge they used Honeywell Forge (Enterprise Performance Management and Asset Performance Management) and Honeywell digital twins to gain visibility into equipment performance across the platform.
Honeywell Forge implemented digital twins and APM models that integrated over 100 major assets and 3,500+ secondary assets plus disparate condition-monitoring systems, delivering an Energy Monitoring System that calculates 24-hour rolling energy-loss values every five minutes and stores daily trends, separating design and operational losses for targeted action. The solution has driven measurable results for Lundin Norway, including a reported recurring 1,100% ROI, potential annual energy savings up to $2.5M (a 5.5% reduction case equals ~$1.23M/year), and a potential CO2 reduction of 5.6 KMT/year (equivalent to removing 1,174 cars).
