Honeycomb Coexists with open source metrics & monitoring as LaunchDarkly scale their business

LaunchDarkly, a feature management platform for the modern enterprise, needed better observability as its AWS-based, Go service environment and legacy Graphite metrics outgrew their existing tooling. The team wanted to understand user behavior and feature adoption at the individual customer level while still keeping the metric dashboards they relied on, but Graphite could not handle the growing data volume and cardinality.

With Honeycomb, LaunchDarkly shifted richer, context-heavy events from its most problematic services into the observability platform while continuing to use Graphite for standard monitoring. Honeycomb helped the team identify and resolve an AWS ALB bug affecting a subset of customers, pinpoint which users were impacted based on usage patterns, and proactively contact them before they experienced issues.
