StreetLink, a public alert service that connects members of the public with outreach teams to help people sleeping rough, needed to scale volunteer capacity and ensure accurate, timely information reached outreach teams—especially during peak periods like severe weather. Working with Homeless Link, StreetLink uses a volunteer-led alert handling service that turns public reports into coordinated outreach referrals while supporting volunteers with training and supervision.
Homeless Link supported StreetLink by recruiting, training and mentoring volunteers such as Liam, who handled alerts, emails and phone enquiries to give outreach teams the best chance of finding people sleeping rough. The partnership strengthened operational resilience at busy times, improved coordination with outreach services, and delivered clear personal impact—Liam gained confidence and skills through Homeless Link-supported volunteering and secured a permanent role with St Mungo’s Information Security team within six months.
