A Homeless Link Case Study
London Councils faced rising homelessness across the capital and the added challenge of Covid-19 disrupting face-to-face support, training and partnership working for boroughs, frontline organisations and landlords. Funded by London Councils, Homeless Link (working in partnership with Shelter) runs the PLUS Project to support those working with people sleeping rough, homeless or in housing need, with a strong focus on partnership, cross-sector working and equalities.
Homeless Link moved PLUS Project activity online at no cost to participants, delivering webinars and networking events, regular CHAIN and statutory homelessness briefings, a monthly newsletter, targeted borough support (particularly for outer London) and a Sept 2020–Mar 2021 research programme into Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people’s experiences. These actions kept staff and borough officers informed and connected during the pandemic, sustained training and consultation opportunities, and provided evidence and policy briefings to help London Councils–funded services respond more effectively.
