Case Study: Westnetz improves technical training efficiency with Hololight Augmented Reality

The customer, Westnetz, a major German distribution system operator, faced the challenge of providing thorough and efficient training for its technical staff on complex equipment like transformers and switchgear. To make these complex operating resources easier to understand and to shorten training times, Westnetz partnered with vendor Hololight to implement an augmented reality solution using its AR software and Microsoft HoloLens glasses.

Hololight's AR solution provided an X-ray view into the equipment, allowing staff to see internal components and moving elements in realistic, detailed 3D. This enabled safe, realistic training without needing to enter potentially dangerous areas. The project demonstrated that augmented reality raises workflows and learning processes to a new level of efficiency for Westnetz, which now plans to use the Hololight technology to visualize complex maintenance measures to guarantee safe operation.
